My 100th injection of Avonex - my primary weapon against MS.
100 injections equals:
- a total of 3 milligrams of medication contained in 50 milliliters of fluid. Each injection gives me 30 MICROGRAMS of the active agent, interferon beta-1a, in .5 ml of fluid.
- approximately 10.5 FEET of needle stuck in my muscles. Each needle is 1.25 inches long and is inserted into thigh or gluteous muscles.
- approximately $30,000.00 or about $10.00 per MICROGRAM to the drug maker.
